
On April 19, 1775, a company of Colonial Militia stood fast against a battalion of British Regulars on the green at Lexington, Massachusetts to prevent their weapons and supplies from being seized. No one knows who fired the first shot, but it was the beginning of the War for American Independence.
Continuing the library's celebration of America's Semiquincentennial, Presenter John Dwyer, retired United States Army Colonel with more than 37 years of service will share his knowledge of this important time in NJ history. John is a Jersey native, military historian with extensive collections of soldier gear and equipment from both the Revolutionary War period as well as World War II. John will dress in period gear to bring to life the soldiers of the Revolutionary war, from what they wore, ate, how they fought, and more.
