Emergency Planning in a Time of Climate Change and an Increasingly Vulnerable Power Grid

Event Details
Every state in the country has experienced at least one billion-dollar disaster since 1980. In the age of climate change, severe weather events, flooding, extended power outages, and other emergencies are becoming more common — making preparedness more important than ever.
Join us for an informative and practical presentation by Lorrie Koonz, who began volunteering in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) as a teenager and brings more than 40 years of emergency response experience, along with a career in nursing and disaster preparedness education.
Topics will include:
• Why we should be prepared
• The most common large-scale disaster risks in our area
• Watches vs. warnings — what’s the difference?
• Why planning saves lives
• Emergency planning, stocking supplies, and making lists
• What to do if evacuation becomes necessary
Please join us Monday, June 15 at 7:00 PM at the North County Branch Library 65 Halstead Street, Clinton, NJ. Our meetings are open to the public. All are invited to attend — bring a friend! Light refreshments will be served.
