Central Fencers Medal at Statewide Fencing Tournament
Two gold, silver and bronze show West Morris ready for prolonged success.
Freshman and sophomore members of the West Morris Central High School fencing team proved why the program has plenty to look forward to in the coming years after finding their way onto the podium at a statewide tournament over the weekend.
The Morris Knolls Freshman & Sophomore Tournament was held on Saturday, Dec. 27 at Morris Knolls High School, hosting more than 200 athletes from around New Jersey.
Central’s youngsters made their presence felt, with sophomore Katherine Santsevich taking gold in girls epee. Freshman Lana Prieur also grabbed gold in foil.

On the boys side Christian Garcia, a freshman foilist, won silver, while his teammate and fellow freshman Christopher Infinito tied for bronze in epee.
Other high achievers on the girls side were Kayleigh Nix took sixth place in freshman epee; Anna Gardner took eighth place in freshman epee; and Madeline Ashton took fifth place in freshman sabre.

For the boys, Zachary Mange took sixth place in sophomore sabre.
