Chuck Wood Celebrates "A New Beginning"

A World Music Event

Well-known to the U.S. Northeast music community and beyond, Chuck Wood presents his first CD release as a solo artist, with producer John Ginty at the helm, recorded at Shark Tank Studios, NJ.

The live debut of A NEW BEGINNING will take place at the historic Middle Valley Community Center in Long Valley, NJ on Saturday, June 15 at 7:30.

Having recorded and toured the US with various music projects since 2001 (fans might remember Ghandarva & Dhamaru), Chuck felt the time was right to start recording and performing on his own. With the help of new band mates, guitarist/ percussionist Maria Haydon and percussionist Mary Moses, many other talented musicians are also proud to be a part of this creation. Playing live on June 15 along with Chuck are Joe Cirotti, Nadine LaFond, Mike Santos and Jeff Hambright.

Mostly known for his skills on various world percussion instruments, this release is cutting edge as it features Chuck playing percussion, performing on guitar and singing a lead vocal. The evening is a blend of African and Latin percussion along with guitars, vocals, harmonica and saxophone, heavily influenced by the guitar and drum styles of West Africa and Afro Pop from the early 1970's.

The sound is filled with heartfelt rhythms, musical and vocal intricacies. It evokes interludes of mystery, distant shores, rhythmic drumbeat and dancing in the dark of night. Chuck has masterfully woven a musical creation that touches our souls deeply, sensually. It is purifying, resilient, strong, and overflowing with vitality.
