Cooking Workshop, Yoga, Fitness Class Planned For Long Valley

This fall, Washington Township Recreation invites all residents to get moving, stretch their muscles and learn new cooking skills.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — Washington Township Recreation invites all residents to get moving, stretch their muscles, and learn new cooking skills at one of the three upcoming recreation programs this fall.

Jenny Boeckel, a popular local charcuterie artist, will be back in action on Sept. 9, creating and presenting one of her many charcuterie creations. From 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., take part in her presentation by designing your own board with various vegetables and accompaniments.

Boeckel will lead and demonstrate all the steps required to create a delectable fall-themed creation.

The workshop will take place at the Long Valley Senior Center, 35 East Springtown Road, and there will be a non-refundable fee due by Aug. 29, 2022. Registration is required for this event as space is limited.

Washington Township Recreation is also hosting a 12-week mat and chair yoga class this fall, where you can stretch out your stress.

According to township officials, the yoga classes are suitable for everyone, from complete beginners to experienced practitioners. Washington Township will hold three separate sessions to accommodate people of all skill levels.

The classes that are available are as follows:

  • Wednesdays from Sept. 14 to Dec. 7, 2022: Beginner Mat Yoga from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.; and Gentle/Beginner Mat Yoga from 10:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.
  • Thursday, Sept. 15 through Dec. 8, 2022: Early Morning Yoga from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.
  • Thursday, Sept. 22 through Dec. 15, 2022: Chair Yoga from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., and Lunch Break Yoga from 12 to 1 p.m.

All sessions require a non-refundable fee by Sept. 12, 2022; registration forms will also no longer be accepted after that date. All classes will be held at the Washington Township Senior Center in Long Valley and are open to anyone over the age of 18.

A separate fall fitness class is also planned for Washington Township, which will run every Wednesday from Sept. 14 to Nov. 30. "This is a great way to make new friends and maximize calorie burn along with total body training! Let’s join together and commit to being fit all while exercising our mind and body," Washington Township Recreation said.

The class will be held from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. at the Washington Township Senior Center, 35 E. Springtown Rd. According to officials, all participants must bring an exercise mat and a pair of medium-weight dumbbells.

This eleven-week class has a limited enrollment and a non-refundable fee that is due by Sept. 12, 2022. Any registration forms received after the deadline will not be accepted, township officials said.
