Curbside Pickup Offered at Washington Twp. Library

The library is now offering contactless curbside pickup of books, DVDs, audiobooks, and magazines

LONG VALLEY - Washington Township Public Library is now offering contactless curbside pickup.

What is Curbside Pickup?
Curbside Pickup allows customers to pick up library materials that have been placed on hold.
WTPL has a designated Curbside Pickup Location, outside of the library that is clearly marked by signage. The pick-up process will involve no direct contact between the public and library staff. **At this time only items owned by WTPL can be held for WTPL cardholders. We apologize for the inconvenience, but the statewide delivery service has been temporarily suspended until the fall. If you are not a WTPL card holder, please reach out to your home library.

When can I pick up items using Curbside Pickup?
Curbside Service is available Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Who can use Curbside Pickup?
All Washington Township Public Library cardholders in good standing can use the service. Residents who do not have library cards are able to sign up for a temporary card number. To register, click here, then tap "Click here for online registration." After you submit the registration form, a temporary number will be emailed to you shortly.

How do I use the Curbside Pickup?

  • Browse the library catalog. Place items on hold using the online catalog found on the library’s website or call the library at (908)876-3596.
  • Library staff will prepare your items for pickup and check them out to your account.
  • It may take up to 24 hours for us to get your items ready.
  • You will be notified via email or phone when your hold is available.
  • Schedule an appointment online, from the library's website before coming to the library to pick up your item(s). There will be 3 available pickup slots scheduled every 15 minutes.

NOTE: If you have a fever or are not feeling well, please do not come to the library to pick up your holds. Contact us to let us know you cannot make your pick up.

  • Please arrive promptly at your assigned time to follow social distancing procedures.
  • Go to the designated Curbside Pickup Location. This will be marked by signage. If there is another car already there, please wait until they are finished before pulling up to the Curbside Pickup Location.
  • When you arrive at the library and are in the Curbside Pickup Location call 908-876-3596 (ext. 10) to let us know you are here. Provide the make and color of your car, to assist in the delivery of your materials.
  • Remain in your vehicle library and open your trunk, so that can staff can place items in your vehicle.
  • Please, no loitering or congregating in front of the library.

How do I return library materials?
You may return your Library materials using the exterior book drop.
**The library is NOT accepting any donations during this time.

What safeguards are in place with regards to books being reissued?
In order to safeguard the health of patrons and staff, the library is quarantining all items for 3 days after their return.

Are there any library resources I can use while the library is closed?
Yes. The library provides a wide array of digital offerings, including e-books, e-audiobooks, magazines, and other resources through the library’s website.
