Delayed Opening For Washington Twp., West Morris Districts Monday

Impending storm sets back schedule to begin the week.

Hours before any precipitation was expected to fall, both the Washington Township and West Morris Regional High School districts are taking precautions for Monday’s class schedule.

The districts called for two-hour delayed openings for Monday, making the decision around 7:30 p.m. Sunday night.

Freezing rain and snow is expected to fall overnight and into Monday. The National Weather Service issued both a Hazardous Weather Outlook and a Winter Weather Advisory for much of New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania, saying a wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain will arrive on Sunday night and Monday morning.

The snow and sleet will change over to rain before it may change back briefly to a snow-and-sleet mixture Monday evening, according to the National Weather Service.

Snow and sleet accumulations are expected to be less than 1 inch, along with a trace of ice.
