COUNT TO TEN is a poignant portrait of an introspective tap dancer/playwright in a make it or break it career and personal crossroad. Having failed to convince Broadway producers to produce his new show because his script lacks a love story/song, our frustrated hoofer begins to evaluate his life while forced to produce his new musical at a summer performing arts camp. In his heyday, Broadway dancer Victor Chase successfully employed himself hopping from one Broadway flop to another. Now, approaching forty years of age and feeling his glory days passing, a companion starved Victor struggles to capture the essence of love to complete his new musical while dealing with the performing arts camps spoiled, rich and in some cases neglected stars of tomorrow. He has little patience for Madoc Dean, the adolescent boy he has chosen as the lead, and a clear intent to keep his new romantic relationship, with the attractive camp owner Claire, a casual one. In the wake of his unfinished show, still without a love song, Victor deals with his own shortcomings while coming to the emotional rescue of Madoc so stressed by his parents who care as little for him as they do each other. Will Victor let Madoc down like his parents? Will Claire offer Victor the shot in the heart he needs to find himself, as well as his love song? Eventually, when he can no longer tap dance around his issues, Victors true feelings surface because of his paternal surrogacy for Madoc and affection for Claire. Victor is forced to confront his inability to succumb to the true call of his heart and gains much more than he bargained for in this new cross-generational, all-dancing, upbeat musical everyone can tap into.
