Fall Recreation, Self Defense Classes Available In Long Valley
The free or low-cost classes are now open for registration.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — The Washington Township Recreation Department is holding a variety of classes for adults this fall, including self-defense and yoga, and registration is open. All of the classes are either free or low-cost. Read more about them, as written by the WTRD.
Fall Yoga
Washington Township Recreation Fall Yoga classes are now forming Yoga is suitable for everyone, from the absolute beginner to a more seasoned practitioner, and will consist of a series of strengthening, toning, relaxing breath and meditation exercises.

On Wednesday’s from September 12 – December 5, 2018 (11 weeks) we will introduce three Yoga classes: Beginner Mat Yoga 9am-10am, Intermediate Yoga 10:15am-11:15am, and Gentle Mat Yoga 11:30pm-12:30pm.On Thursday’s September 20 – December 6, 2018 (11 weeks) we will have Early Morning Yoga 8am-9am, Chair Yoga 1:30pm-2:30pm, and Mixed Level Mat Yoga 4:15-5:15pm. On Thursday’s October 4 – December 6, 2018 (9 weeks) Lunch Break Yoga from 12pm-1pm. All sessions have a nonrefundable fee and a deadline date. Do not wait to sign up as classes go fast.

Mindfulness Program
Are you feeling stressed or overwhelmed? If you can relate to this then this is the perfect opportunity to come participate in our “Mindfulness” program.
Washington Township Recreation Dept. is presenting “Sharon Kelly, LCSW a representative of Atlantic Healthin offering a “Free” lunch and “Mindfulness Program” scheduled for Friday, September 28th, at the Washington Township Senior Center, 35 East Springtown Road, Long Valley. This program will be held at 12:30 pm.
We are calling all staff and members of the community to participate in this program because “it really is such an important topic and we all can use a reminder!” The program will give you a brief Science review, some of the benefits of Mindfulness, and one will be able to experience some basic practices.

Self Defense Classes
“Sometimes the most dangerous situation is the one we didn’t prepare for. “Self-defense is defined as the right to prevent suffering force or violence through the use of a sufficient level of counteracting force or violence.” There are 4 Self-defense & Safety tips all people should know! The first one is to enroll in a Self-Defense class. .” Washington Township Police Department and Recreation, would like to introduce a “Self-Defense Class” to adults and seniors.
This class will demonstrate physical techniques, security tips, and how to avoid potentially dangerous situations. Instructors, Sergeant Brian Bigham & Detective John Wuetemburg will demonstrate helpful information thatteaches a mix of physical skills and life lessons. This FREE course is offered on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 1 pm. It will take place at the Senior Center, 35 East Springtown Road. We only have limited space available so register before September 17, 2018.

Mayor's Wellness Program
Come and get into shape with Washington Township Recreation and our certified fitness instructors for the Mayor’s Wellness Program. The exercise and fitness classes are scheduled for the following dates:
Monday’s Sept 10 – Nov 5, 2018) Circuit Craze from 4:15pm-5:15pm;Tuesday’s Sept 11 – Nov 27, 2018 Let’s Move with Cardio Dance from12:30pm-1:15pm; Tuesday’s Sept 11 – Nov 13, 2018 Focus Fitness from4pm-5pm; Wednesday’s Sept 12 – Nov 7, 2018 Low Impact Strength & Cardio from 3pm-4pm and Circuit Craze from 4:30-5:30pm.
Deadline date to register is September 6, 2018 with a nonrefundable fee that can be found on the Township’s website www.wtmorris.org under the Recreation Department.
