Girl Scout Cookie Season Starting In North Jersey Soon

In honor of the 101st cookie season, the S'Mores cookie is making its return.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — It's that time of the year again: Girl Scout cookie season. As the 101st cookie sale begins, the fan-favorite S'mores cookie is making its return.

In addition to S'mores, classics like Thin Mints, Samoas and Trefoils will be available. Most cookies are $4 a box, but the gluten-free Toffee-tastic cookies and the S’mores cookies are $5. (Girl Scouts says this is because of higher production costs).

Revenue raised stays in the community, Girl Scouts says, and goes to help local Troops pay for activities.

“The Girl Scout Cookie Program give girls the opportunity to gain confidence in themselves and develop their leadership skills at a young age,” said Betty Garger, Chief Executive Officer of the Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey. “There are so many activities surrounding the cookie program, that girls have a lot of fun and hone the skills they will need to be successful in the future.”

Residents in North Jersey can start ordering cookies on Saturday, Jan. 13 from their local Girl Scout Troop. For more information and to find a troop selling cookies, visit www.gsnnj.org.
