What a week!
After three days off from school and no electricity for many of the girls varsity soccer players, West Morris Central saw their first round state tournament game get swapped to an away game in Millburn as the West Morris field was unplayable due to the snow. But the girls showed up and played some great soccer, grabbing a 3-0 win.
The Wolfpack got off to a fast start when Megan Monaco played a ball up the left wing to Kelly Kavanaugh. Kavanaugh crossed it into the middle where Sydney Sapir one-touched it over to Emily Thomas. Thomas blasted it home for a 1-0 lead just 4-minutes into the game. West Morris continued to pressure but couldn’t score for the balance of the first half.

In the second half, Ana Doyle slipped a ball past the defense to a hard charging Jessie Angle, who played it into the middle of the field. Thomas was there again, knocking it home for her second goal and a 2-0 lead.
The final goal came when the Millburn goalie came way out of her net to beat Brooke Carty to a long ball. She cleared it away but Christina Hein reeled it in and lofted a 40-years-shot over the keeper's head as she charged back to the net for the final goal of the game.
