Learn About The Health Benefits Of Read Food Labels
Learn about how to read food labels at an upcoming library program.

LONG VALLEY – On Monday, November 6 at 7 p.m., Washington Township Public Library will present “What Chemicals are Lurking in Your Grocery Cart?” Reading food labels in the grocery store is not usually one of our favorite pastimes. We assume that there is little difference between the various brands on the shelves (other than the price), so we simply select the item that has the price and 'look' that appeals to us. But, closer inspection of the ingredient labels will reveal that there are actually substantial differences between brands of the same product, and you will find extremely poor options (lots of preservatives, artificial colors and other chemicals) right next to much healthier choices. Led by Marion Carroll, this workshop will start you on your way of effective label reading, so you can ensure that you buy the products that best serve you and your family's health.
Marian is a certified holistic health and lifestyle counselor with a passion for optimal wellness. Her motto is "Creating Wellness in Body, Mind and Spirit", and Marian believes that Food is Medicine and that by making the right dietary choices we can achieve and maintain vibrant health and abundant energy throughout our lifetime. As a baby-boomer herself, she is an enthusiastic advocate of Healthy Aging: “We are the generation that once avowed never to 'trust anyone over 30'.... we certainly are not ready to retire to a rocking chair yet! By taking charge of our own personal health, many of the discomforts and ailments associated with aging can be avoided (or reversed). It is absolutely possible to remain active and healthy well into our nineties.”
In her private practice, Marian creates a safe and supportive environment that allows clients to achieve their own personal health objectives. Her approach is one of bio-individuality, meaning that one diet and lifestyle does not work for everyone. Her programs integrate diet, exercise, emotional and spiritual well-being as part of this holistic concept. Aside from taking health to the next level, Marian works with clients on weight-loss, hypertension, prediabetes and many other life-style related concerns. She also offers Group Programs and regularly presents workshop in the area.
