Heroin, Needles Found During Long Valley Traffic Stop: WTPD Police Blotter

LONG VALLEY, NJ — Washington Township police made multiple arrests this past week, including for heroin, drug paraphernalia and active warrants. Read about those arrests, as written by police, here.
On October 19, 2017 at 8:09 p.m., Patrol Officer Jason Hensley conducted a motor vehicle stop on Mountain Avenue for a motor vehicle violation that was observed on Route 46. While speaking to the driver who was identified as Andrew Brown, PO Hensley learned Mr. Brown had an active National Criminal Information Center (NCIC) warrant issued by Morris County Sheriff’s Department. A subsequent investigation by PO Hensley also found that Mr. Brown was in Possession of Heroin, Hypodermic Needle and Drug Paraphernalia.
Mr. Brown was placed under arrest and transported to Washington Township Police Headquarters. Mr. Brown was issued a criminal complaint for Possession of Heroin, Possession of a Hypodermic Needle and

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Mr. Brown was later transported to Morris County Correctional Facility.
On October 16, 2017 at 1:25 p.m., Patrol Officer Daniel Hudspith conducted a motor vehicle stop on East Avenue for a motor vehicle violation. Upon speaking with the driver Gina Troise-Shergalis, PO Hudspith detected the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. A subsequent investigation by PO Hudspith found that Ms. Troise-Shergalis was in possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia along with a scheduled II narcotic. Ms. Troise-Shergalis was placed under arrest and transported to Washington Township Police Headquarters.

Ms. Troise-Shergalis was issued a Criminal Complaint for possession of marijuana (under 50 grams), possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of prescription drugs not in their proper container and under the influence of CDS. Ms. Troise-Shergalis was additionally charged with Motor Vehicle Complaints for speeding, failure to maintain lane, tailgating, possession of CDS in a motor vehicle, reckless driving and driving while impaired. Ms. Troise-Shergalis was later released to a responsible adult with a pending court date in Washington Township Municipal Court.
On October 14, 2017 at 2:23 a.m., Patrol Officer Ryan Olah conducted a motor vehicle stop on Fairmount Road for a motor vehicle violation. While speaking with the driver of the vehicle John Peterson, PO Olah detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from within the vehicle. A subsequent investigation by PO Olah determined that Mr. Peterson was operating his vehicle while intoxicated. Mr. Peterson was placed under arrest and transported to Washington Township Police Headquarters.
Mr. Peterson was issued motor vehicle complaint for Driving While Intoxicated, Reckless Driving and Speeding. Mr. Peterson was later released to a responsible adult with a pending court date in Washington Township Municipal Court.
On October 14, 2017 at 4:29 p.m., Patrol Officer Frank Giaquinto conducted a motor vehicle stop on Rt 46 for a motor vehicle violation. While speaking to the occupants of the vehicle, PO Giaquinto detected the odor of marijuana emanating from within the vehicle. A subsequent investigation by PO Giaquinto determined that the passenger, Samuel Kling was in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Mr. Kling was placed under arrest and transported to Washington Township Police Headquarters.
Mr. Kling was issued a criminal complaint for Possession of Marijuana (under 50 grams) along with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
