History of Jersey Shore topic of talk at W.T. Library
Author, photographer, and lecturer Kevin Woyce will present "History of the Jersey Shore" on Saturday, July 20 at 2 p.m.

LONG VALLEY -- On Saturday, July 20th at 2 p.m., Washington Township Public Library will welcome back Kevin Woyce for "History of the Jersey Shore." Have you ever wondered why there is an elephant-shaped building on the beach in Margate? A concrete ship stuck in the sand off Cape May Point? A town named Loveladies? Or Ship Bottom? Author, photographer, and lecturer Kevin Woyce did... and the result is this colorful tour of our coastal history, from the long-ago days of pirates, shipwrecks, and lighthouses to the founding of today's most popular summer resorts. The slide show includes his original photography of Jersey Shore lighthouses, amusement parks, boardwalks, and hotels, plus vintage maps and images of historic people, places, and events. The program is free and open to the public, but registration is requested at wtpl.org or by calling the library at 908-876-3596. Washington Township Public Library is located at 37 E. Springtown Rd., Long Valley, NJ 07853.
