Indie Author Conference at Washington Township Library

This free event for local writers and authors will offer advice on various aspects of self-publishing.

LONG VALLEY, NJ – On Saturday, November 17, Washington Township Public Library will host "Indie Author Boot Camp," its third annual writer’s conference. This event is designed to help first-time authors and veterans alike navigate the ever-changing landscape of self-publishing. The day's schedule is as follows:

10:30 - 11AM: Coffee and networking

11 AM - Noon: Book publicist Claire McKinney will discuss how to structure a successful book launch.
Noon - 1 PM: Intellectual property attorney Eric Kaiser will discuss copyrights, trademarks, and intellectual property issues of concern to writers.
1 - 1:30 PM: Bring-your-own lunch
1:30 - 2:30 PM: Authors Roni Denholtz, Roz Lee, and Jean Joachim will lead a panel discussion on self-publishing -- why to self-publish, the difficulties, pros/cons compared to traditional publishing, some of the major companies involved -- plus a bit on editing and formatting for self-publishing.
2:30 - 3:30 PM: Author and mindset coach Pascale Kavanagh will offer advice for staying motivated and avoiding writer's block, including specific practices to reduce anxiety and sharpen focus.
