Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Visits Washington Twp. Library

Actress Jill Lawrence performs a one-woman show as Jackie O' on Tuesday, March 12 at 7 p.m.

LONG VALLEY -- On Tuesday, March 12, Washington Township Public Library will welcome actress Jill Lawrence for the one-woman show "Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis: Grace and Preservation, and American Legacy."

She was a Kennedy. She was an Onassis. She did not define herself by her husbands. Realizing that future generations would need the insights of the past for guidance, her preservation efforts galvanized the rest of the country to protect its historic monuments. Aided by her public profile, her work helped bring about the Historic Preservation Act of 1966: the most far-reaching preservation legislation ever enacted in the United States.

The program is free and open to the public but registration is requested at wtpl.org or by calling the library at 908-876-3596. Priority will be given to Washington Township residents. The library is located at 37 E. Springtown Rd., Long Valley, NJ 07853.
