Lifetime Learning Series Returns to the Library

Come to the library for lectures on cognitive science, concertos, modern art, and Hollywood dance legends.

Long Valley - The Friends of the Washington Township Public Library are happy to announce this spring's Lifetime Learning lecture topics, ranging from the concerto and cognitive science to modern art and famous Hollywood dance legends. A majority of the lectures will be held in-person, and the mini-course will be exclusively on Zoom. All lectures will be recorded and shared with those who have paid to attend.

The library will first welcome Dr. Robert Butts, the Artistic Director and Conductor of The Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey, to present his lecture series on the history and development of the concerto. This lecture series will take place on Fridays March 31, April 14, April 21, and April 28th in-person, beginning at 10:30 AM at the library.

Next, the library will (virtually) welcome Professor Emeritus Brian Rose of Fordham University to discuss Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly - dancing stars from the Golden Age of Hollywood. This mini-lecture series will take place on Thursdays April 6 and April 13 at, beginning at 7 PM on Zoom.

In May, the library will welcome Mr. Sten Knutsen, Cognitive Psychology Ph.D. of Rutgers University to discuss the history of Cognitive Science Revolution and its future in AI. This lecture series will take place on Fridays May 5, May 12, May 19, and May 26, beginning at 10:30 AM at the library.

Lastly, the library will welcome Professor of Art Joseph Coco of Centenary University to share the history of modern art and how its resonance in contemporary society. This lecture series will take place on Thursdays May 18, May 25, June 1, and June 8 at 6:30 PM at the library.

The cost for attendance is $25 per lecture series for WTPL Friends members, and $30 for non-members ($12 / $15 for the mini-course).
