Long Valley Mailman, Grandfather Dies at 64

John McLaughlin, III was a staple in the Long Valley community for nearly four decades.

The father of four died at his home Sunday at the age of 64, according to his obituary.

McLaughlin was born in Montclair and lived in Orange before moving to Long Valley 38 years ago. He spent 20 years of his United States Postal Service career in Long Valley and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

He is survived by two sons, two daughters, two grandchildren and a large extended family.

Visiting hours will be held at Cochrane Funeral Home on High Street in Hackettstown from 5 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3, followed by a funeral service at Zion Lutheran Church at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4.
