Long Valley Officials Assist In Hiker Rescue At Stevens State Park

Long Valley First Aid Squad members were dispatched to assist the Budd Lake Fire Department in rescuing an injured hiker.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — Long Valley First Aid Squad members were called in to help with a dispatch call for an injured hiker in Stevens State Park on the afternoon of July 1, according to officials.

The injured hiker was removed safely without incident and taken to a nearby hospital after two and a half hours of emergency personnel working, according to the Budd Lake Fire Department.

Budd Lake Fire Department, Atlantic EMS, Mount Olive Fire Marshalls Office, and Mount Olive Police Department were initially dispatched to the scene shortly after 12 p.m. when they requested Long Valley First Aid Squad assistance for their utility terrain vehicles.

The Long Valley utility vehicles were used to assist with removing the hiker from the scene, officials said.

"It was excellent work by all on a hot day," The Long Valley First Aid Squad said.
