Long Valley Youth Sports Coach, Businessman Dies at 51

John Gutowski leaves behind a wife and three children.

Born in New York City, John Gutowski has spent many years living in Long Valley and giving back to the community.

The husband and father of three died Saturday, April 18, according to his obituary.

Gutowski, just 51, was a successful business owner and widely known for his hard work and integrity. Outside of work, Gutowski enjoyed vintage cars, Corvettes, and going on road trips aboard his Harley Davidson motorcycle.

He was a youth sports coach and loved watching his kids compete, and was a member of Local 1 Elevator Constructor’s Union in New York.

Gutowski is survived by his wife of 20 years, Connie; children John, Jessica, and Christopher; and a large extended family.

A celebration of life will be held at William J. Leber Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. at 15 Furnace Road in Chester. A 10:30 a.m. funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, April 24 at Our Lady of the Mountain Church. Memorial donations may be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, 1275 York Avenue, New York, NY 10065.
