Long Valley's Sharkey Earns Third College Rookie of the Week Award

Cross-country runner tied for record number of accolades in freshman season.

When Long Valley’s Brennan Sharkey signed her letter of intent to run cross-country for Bucknell University, she said the decision was an easy one because of the coach’s enthusiasm and her future teammates’ fun spirit.

Sharkey has wasted no time fitting in not just at Bucknell, but in the Patriot League as a whole.

The college freshman and 2014 West Morris Central graduate has earned her third Patriot League Rookie of the Week award after placing 39th out of 85 runners at the Panorama Farms Invitational, hosted by the University of Virgnia.

The recognition puts Sharkey among conference greats, as she is tied with three other runners for most Rookie of the Week awards in conference history.
