Long Valley's Varsity teams completed their first weekend of competition after the holidays with 4 comfortable wins. On Saturday, the Wolfpack Grade School team (5th through 8th grade) beat Bridgewater 62-24 and Hillsborough 81-9, bringing their record to 9-1 on the season (26-4 over the past two seasons). Sunday, the Northwest team (K through 6th grade) beat Parsippany 77-17 and Hopatcong/Sparta 59-30; the Northwest team is now 6-1 on the season and 51-2 over the past 4 seasons.
Long Valley's Future Stars (K-8th grade JV wrestlers preparing to enter varsity competition next season) team won two matches Saturday, beating Parsippany handily, and then squeaking by Hackettstown by one point in the last match. A good Morristown team beat the Wolfpack Future Stars team in a close match for the only loss of the weekend.
All three Wolfpack Varsity teams compete this week at the Long Valley Middle School: Thursday the Tri-County and Grade School teams wrestle Randolph back-to-back starting at 6:30, while the Northwest team takes on Hackettstown Friday starting about 7:00pm, also at the LVMS. Both nights present a nice opportunity for Long Valley to not only support our hard-working wrestlers, but also to see one of the premier youth wrestling programs in New Jersey in action close to home.
