Three Long Valley dual matches were decided by one match over the weekend, with the Wolfpack coming out on the short end of two of them. Thursday night, Long Valley's Tri-County lost to a good Randolph team right before Long Valley's other 8th-grade team (missing a few starters due to injury and illness) lost a heart-breaker, also to Randolph, in the last match of the night.
Friday night, Long Valley's near-perfect 6th-grade team dominated Hackettstown, and then followed up on Sunday with two convincing wins over Mendham and Blairstown to bring their record to 9-1 on the season.
Saturday, the Tri-County team defeated Hopatcong before losing to always-tough Paramus, and then falling in the last match to Montville.
On Sunday, a healthier Grade School team traveled to Flemington and handled North Hunterdon convincingly before pulling out a tight match against Flemington 41-37, bringing their season record to 11-2 heading into a pivotal dual with perennial state power at High Point this weekend.
Long Valley's 3 Varsity teams are now a combined 23-6 on the season. This week, the Tri-County team will compete in a side-by-side dual at Morristown with West Morris Central's team, before taking on a tough Mount Olive team on Friday at the Long Valley Middle School.
