Missing Mountain Lakes Teen Possibly Seen In Ohio: Police

Police in Miami, Ohio say they have received reports that Thomas Kolding, 15, was seen in town.

MOUNTAIN LAKES, NJ — A teenager who ran away from Mountain Lakes in October might have been seen in Ohio, police there said.

On Friday, police in Miami Township, Ohio said they have received reports that Thomas Kolding, 15, was seen in town. The Morris County Prosecutor's Office confirmed late Saturday that multiple jurisdictions, including Ohio, are responding to reports of possible sightings.

Law enforcement is actively attempting to confirm any information regarding his whereabouts, according to the MCPO.

Kolding was last seen on camera on Nov. 3 in Camden; his father told Patch he thought his son might be in Philadelphia. Kolding, 15, was last seen at home in New Jersey on Oct. 30.

"He walked straight from the [Camden] train station to the Ben Franklin Bridge, crosses by foot, and was spotted by a camera on the corner of 8th and Race in downtown Philadelphia around 3 p.m." on November 3rd, father Nicolai Kolding said in a public post on Friday.

Thomas Kolding was last known to be home in Mountain Lakes on Oct. 30. He took the train from Denville to Newark Broad Street, where he transferred to a New York Penn Station bound train. He is considered a runaway and there is nothing suspicious about his disappearance, officials said. Kolding had a "strong interest" in traveling to California, initial reports said.

On Saturday, Kolding said it was possible Thomas had left Philadelphia, but he wasn't sure how. "If he’s no longer in Philly (and I don’t know), how would he travel? This is one of my biggest questions. Amtrak, Greyhound check ID & were made aware from the start," Kolding wrote.

Kolding is a white male with brown hair and brown eyes. He is five feet three inches tall, and weights 120 pounds, officials said. He was last seen wearing a black and orange striped sweatshirt, and carrying a large blue backpack. He might also be wearing a camouflage jacket; his father said he prefers athletic clothing with no logos.

Anyone with information about Thomas Kolding's whereabouts is asked to call Mt. Lakes Police at (973) 334-1413.
