Morris Canal Talk at the Washington Township Library
Tim Roth, of the Canal Society of N.J., will present on Monday, August 19 at 7 p.m.

LONG VALLEY -- On Monday, August 19 at 7 p.m., the Washington Township Public Library welcomes Tim Roth for "The Morris Canal - North New Jersey's Water Highway." This talk explores the history of the Morris Canal, from its inception in the 1820’s to its abandonment 100 years later. Learn about the technology used to build a canal that overcame more than 1,600 feet in elevation. Discover how boats navigated along the Morris Canal and what life was like for the many people who lived and worked on the canal. In addition, you will find out about some of the sites you are able to visit today along the ever-expanding Morris Canal Greenway. Tim Roth is Vice President of the Canal Society of New Jersey and a Morris Canal enthusiast. He is a retired IT Project Manager who lives in Long Valley.
