Plea For Substitute Teachers Issued By Long Valley Superintendent
Washington Township Schools put out a call for substitute teachers to help with the upcoming 2023-2024 school year.
LONG VALLEY, NJ — Long Valley school officials have issued a plea for additional substitute teachers, custodians, and bus drivers as work to prepare for the upcoming school year commences.
During the Tuesday, July 11 school board meeting, Superintendent Peter Turnamian made an announcement to the public stating that the school district is currently experiencing shortages in those roles.
"These are three critical roles," Turnamian said.

Currently, substitute teachers in the Washington Township School District are able to earn as much as $140 per day over the course of the school year. Custodian substitutes are able to earn up to $19 an hour, and first-year substitute bus drivers can earn $28 an hour, Turnamian said.
For the role of a bus driver, the school district said that they provide all the training needed for any potential candidate.

The vacancies will be most critical to fill during the upcoming fall semester of school, and Turnamian encourages any interested parties to contact the schools to learn more about the positions.
