About Plastic Free July 2026
Plastic Free July is a global movement that inspires millions of people to reduce single-use plastic waste. Each July, individuals, communities, and organizations come together to make a real difference for our environment by choosing to refuse plastic products. Whether you&rsquo;re a seasoned eco-warrior or just starting your journey, Plastic Free July offers practical ways to live more sustainably and protect our planet for future generations.
What is Plastic Free July?
Plastic Free July is an annual campaign encouraging people to cut down on single-use plastics throughout the month of July. The initiative began as a simple challenge and has grown into a worldwide movement, engaging over 100 million participants in 190 countries. The goal is to raise awareness of plastic pollution and empower everyone to make small, sustainable changes &ndash; such as choosing reusable bags, bottles, and containers and refusing plastic straws, takeout cups and plastic bottled water&ndash; that add up to a significant positive impact.
When is Plastic Free July?
Plastic Free July takes place every year during the entire month of July. In 2026, the challenge runs from Tuesday, July 1st to Thursday, July 31st. Participants are encouraged to begin anytime in July, with the option to extend their efforts beyond the month.
Why is Plastic Free July Important?
Each year, billions of tons of plastic end up in our oceans, harming wildlife and polluting natural habitats. Plastic Free July highlights the urgent need to reduce our reliance on single-use plastics. By participating, individuals help drive change in consumer habits and influence businesses and governments to adopt more sustainable practices. Every action, no matter how small, contributes to a cleaner, healthier planet.
How to Get Involved
Getting involved in Plastic Free July is simple and flexible. Here are a few ways to participate:

History of Plastic Free July
Plastic Free July was founded in 2011 by Rebecca Prince-Ruiz and a small team in Western Australia. What started as a local initiative has since blossomed into a global campaign, supported by the Plastic Free Foundation. The movement continues to grow, helping millions make lasting changes for a plastic-free world.

Warren County Farmers' Fair featuring the Balloon Festival

Celebrating the American Farmer &amp; Family Traditions since 1937!
The Warren County Farmers’ Fair is more than an agricultural fair. It boasts a hot air balloon festival, and a variety of shows and competitions you don’t often find in today’s world of digital entertainment. From demolition derbies and a rodeo, to fry pan throwing and rubber chicken tosses, the Fair provides a great variety of entertainment for all! 
Located in Harmony Township, NJ – just a few minutes north of Phillipsburg and minutes off Rt. 78 – the Fair runs from Saturday, July 25 to Saturday, August 1, 2026.
Join us for a Fireworks celebration on Sunday night, July 26, at dusk (rain date Monday). The fireworks show in celebration of our nation’s 250 years of freedom is provided courtesy of the Warren County Board of County Commissioners.
The Fair itself celebrates 88 years of affordable family fun. Admission is only $10 for an adult, and $5 for children ages 6 through 12, with 5 and under being free, as well as free parking. Advance admission tickets are available online, handling fees apply.
Fair admission includes access to the balloon festival. It’s like two events for the price of one. If you’ve never been to a balloon festival, the balloons come out in the evening, with a 6:30 pm launch time. Full flight balloon rides are available and may be scheduled in advance to ensure your spot. Email <a href="mailto:fly@balloonfestnj.com">fly@balloonfestnj.com</a> to inquire about pricing and to reserve. Tethered rides are available each evening on a first-come, first-served basis, ranging from $20-$30 per person. The tentative start time is around 5 pm, weather conditions permitting. Patience is appreciated for these popular rides – especially for little ones – as passenger safety comes first.

Got kids? Be sure to check out the Kids’ Corral, where you find crafts, entertainment, activities and more. Your kids can enter contests and win tickets to our very own local, iconic amusement park, Land of Make Believe. Join the Foam party on opening day Saturday – be sure to bring a towel (required to participate) and a change of clothes. All activities and shows are free of charge for fairgoers and their children.
Saturday, July 25 also features the Farmers’ Fair Fight Fest Combat Robots clashing all day down at the Kids’ Corral.
Sunday, July 26 is Veteran’s Day with free admission for Veterans and active duty military. Monday, July 27 is Seniors Day, with free admission when you show your Medicare card. Stop by a little early and enjoy the free Senior Expo, from 1:30-4 pm, on the dance floor. Seniors can participate in the Senior Chicken in the Pan Toss at 2:30 pm. 
Enjoy Carnival Rides specials throughout the week. Every day you can ride all the rides with a wristband special of $35. Purchase single tickets for $2 each (rides require different numbers of tickets) or save on a Family Pack of 20 tickets for $30 or a Super Saver of 45 tickets $60.
Other highlights include Belvidere FFA Alumni &amp; Supporters Car, Truck &amp; Tractor show, on opening day Saturday, Home &amp; Garden building displays, horse shows and contests, Fair Queen &amp; princesses contest, talent show.
