Queen Victoria's 200th Birthday Celebration at the Library

Food historian and tea specialist Judith Krall-Russo will give a talk on Wednesday, May 22 at Washington Twp. Library. Tea will be served.

LONG VALLEY -- On Wednesday, May 22nd at 1 p.m., Washington Township Public Library will host a Tea for Queen Victoria's 200th Birthday. Tea has been an important and well-loved beverage in Great Britain since the 17th century. As the 19th century progressed and the price of tea became less expensive it was savored by all classes of British citizens. Queen Victoria, who truly enjoyed tea and sweet confections, popularized tea parties during the 1860's. Join Judith Krall-Russo, food historian and certified tea specialist, as we learn more about the beloved Queen along with British tea history, tea customs and etiquette and celebrate Queen Victoria's 200th birthday. After the talk, tea and sweets will be served. Please bring your own teacup. Period costume optional. The program is free and open to the public but registration is required and priority will be given to W.T. residents. Sign up online or by calling the library at 908-876-3596.
