Not to detract from those now writing James A. Michener-sized tomes listing recent political scandals, but this story is about a gubernatorial administration’s arrogant and criminal assault on the citizens of Fort Lee and commuters using the GWB on both sides of the Hudson. The story continues to be spun into rants against anything related to Obama, but the fact remains that these miscreants violated their foremost responsibility- to serve and protect NJ citizens. With or without the Governor’s knowledge, and that is yet to be determined, it was a petty, offensive and probably illegal action.
The Governor cannot oversee every day-to-day actions taken by his staff, but he must certainly realize that his staff’s actions say a lot about him., and yes, he has to take responsibility for their actions. As Nixon surrounded himself with ex-spies who fed off of paranoia and deceit, the Governor has allowed his legacy to be imbued with with some serious bottom-feeding bullies who feed off of vulnerability and political venom while ignoring their civic duty.
