Tipoff Leads To Identity Theft Arrest: Washington Twp. Police

Eulalia Mariel Arias-Ciprian used a stolen credit card number to charge $3,400 in iPhones, police said.

LONG VALLEY, NJ - An anonymous tip led to the arrest of a 21-year-old Paterson woman who was charged with with receiving stolen property, impersonating and using another’s identification, obstructing the administration of law, and hindering apprehension on Feb. 21, according to the Washington Township Police.

According to police, the Washington Township Detective Bureau received an anonymous tip that a female identified as Mariel would be taking a package off the front steps of a residence on East Mill Road.

The East Mill Road resident told police there was a fraudulent purchase on her credit card two days prior.

The tipster told police the package contained items purchased with stolen credit cards online and later said the package would be shipped to a UPS pick-up location in Flanders.

Detectives apprehended Eulalia Mariel Arias-Ciprian in Flanders after she took possession of the package, police said. Arias-Ciprian provided multiple false names and dates of birth and exhibited a fake New Jersey Driver’s License containing the victim’s information, police said.

The package contained four iPhone 11’s valued at $3,400. They were determined to have been purchased using the victim’s stolen credit card information and identity online, police said.
