West Morris Central Grad Set to Open Long Valley Tutoring Service
Homework Helpers available to assist students in grades K-12.
graduate and Long Valley native Josh Goodkin will be opening Homework Helpers of Long Valley, LLC, a tutoring center located on Schooley’s Mountain Road on March 7.
The center will offer customized homework assistance, subject-specific tutoring, and standardized test preparation for students in elementary, middle, and high school.
Located near the bottom of Schooley's Mountain on the south side, students will have the opportunity to meet with experienced tutors for one-on-one, hour-long sessions for general homework help, tutoring in specific areas of weakness, or for SAT, SSAT, NJASK, and HESPA preparation. The Center will also offer two value packages: the Rutger’s Package, which includes six one-hour sessions at the price of five, and the Princeton Package, which consists of twelve one-hour sessions at the price of ten.

“I think the tutoring center will provide a much-needed service in Long Valley as well as a warm atmosphere for students to learn,” said Goodkin. “But what will distinguish Homework Helpers from larger chain tutoring centers is the personalized service that will be provided to each student. Every student will be a priority and we plan to create lasting relationships.”
Since almost all of the Homework Helpers tutors are certified teachers and all have extensive tutoring experience, Goodkin has high expectations.

“Our mission is to improve weaknesses and enhance strengths,” said Goodkin. “We want to ensure that students walk away with a deeper understanding of the concepts and material and that they will be ready to put their new skills to use in the classroom.”
A proud Pennsylvania State University graduate and advocate of higher education, Goodkin assigned each individual tutoring room a different college theme, creating a colorful and fun learning environment. Each room is equipped with various supplies, including a whiteboard, worksheets, practice quizzes, and educational games. There will also be SAT prep and other educational books available for purchase.
Goodkin is overjoyed that people in the community have already expressed interest in the tutoring center. “The idea has been met with open arms and my staff and I are looking forward to opening our doors,” he said.
Goodkin and staff recently met to finalize plans and to discuss summer programs and workshops to keep students focused and learning throughout the summer months.
In celebration of their grand opening, Homework Helpers is offering half-price sessions scheduled during their opening week and 15 percent off first sessions scheduled after the opening week.
Also in celebration of their grand opening, Goodkin and staff will be hosting an open house meet-and-greet event at the tutoring center on Sunday, March 6 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
