West Morris Regional Donates Supplies To Morristown Medical

LONG VALLEY, NJ - The West Morris Regional School District may not be in session physically, but they are working overtime to make their presence known with a donation of thousands of personal protection items were sent over to the Morristown Medical Center.

According to West Morris Regional School District Superintendent Michael Ben-David, almost 4,000 gloves, 150 surgical masks, and 400 glasses/goggles were delivered Monday.

The donations were gathered from the science and health departments at Mendham and Central High Schools . Director of Special Services Mike Reinknecht made the delivery, Ben-David told Patch.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) donations are desperately needed by health care professionals in New Jersey with the outbreak of novel coronavirus, or COVID-19, and officials have opened also opened up donation bins to help.

"To help keep them safe and doing their important work, we are asking nail salons, dental offices, veterinary clinics or any resident who has these items available to donate as much as possible," officials said. "It comes down to this: if physicians, nurses, physician assistants, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, paramedics and other health care workers don’t have adequate protection, they are risking their lives by coming into contact with people infected with COVID-19."

There will also be a blue donation bin outside 200 American Way, Morris Plains, Monday – Friday, 8:30 .a.m – 5 p.m. and donations will be accepted at 435 South Street, Morristown from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The personal protective equipment includes:

  • N95 Masks
  • Eye Protectors
  • Sterile Gowns
  • Surgical Gloves
  • Regular Masks
  • Alternative respirators that OSHA has given permission to use in health care during this historic pandemic.
