"Winter Sucker Gigging in Califon" in Fur-Fish-Game Magazine

Local outdoorsman Ken Beam, from Port Murray New Jersey rounded up his buddies for some Sucker Gigging Fun on the ice in Califon!

After posting an announcement of Facebook, Ken Beam lured plenty of good friends to the South Branch of the Raritan River that snowy Saturday last January to go Sucker Gigging. The Boys ended up with about fifty suckers and had a lot of good laughs on the ice that day. Jim Holland the owner of Shannon`s Fly & Tackle Shop in Califon videoed that days adventure. Jim stated, “I have always heard about the Legendary Califon Sucker Gigging, but have never seen it till today!”

After putting a few videos of the day together and being encouraged by his girlfriend Sharon, Ken was inspired to write an article and submit it to one of his all-time favorite magazines that he read as a teenager in Califon, Fur-Fish-Game Magazine. The magazine did indeed publish his article in the December 2014 issue.
