MADISON, NJ — For the second time this week, a water main break has left Madison residents with little to no water pressure as members of the Water Department aim to repair the damage.

The current water main break is on Trail Place, according to Madison officials, although the cause of the break is not immediately clear.

Yesterday, residents on Belleau Avenue went nearly six hours without water as members of the Water Department attempted to repair the break, according to Madison Borough Communication Coordinator Michael Pellessier.

"The water main break that occurred yesterday on Belleau Avenue was a run-of-the-mill water main break. There was no construction taking place in the area that struck it. It simply broke, with hairline fractures," Pellessier said.

The two breaks also come after an emergency service outage on Tuesday, Aug. 16, when the borough announced that water would be turned off for the area around Green Village Road and Woodland Road due to emergency PSEG work. The water was not fully restored until 3 a.m. after being turned off for nine hours.
