MADISON, NJ — Madison Police made multiple arrests during the month of September, for things ranging from possession of drug paraphernalia to assault. Read about those arrests here, as written by the Madison Police Department:

On 9/4/17 at 6:41 p.m., Ptl. Joseph DiRocco arrested Harrison M. Atkinson, 23 of Chatham, NJ. Ptl. DiRocco stopped Atkinson’s vehicle on Main Street for an alleged moving violation. Upon speaking with driver, Madison officers detected signs of possible drug use. Upon further investigation, Atkinson was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana and a marijuana smoking pipe. Atkinson was arrested and charged with Possession of marijuana under 50 grams and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; both are disorderly person’s offenses. Atkinson was further issued a motor vehicle summons for Use of a Handheld Cell Phone in a Motor Vehicle. He was later released pending a court appearance in Madison Municipal Court.

On 9/4/17 at 8:08 p.m., Ptl. Matthew Mirabella arrested Andrew J. Gaudenzi, 31 of Waymart, PA. Ptl. Mirabella stopped Gaudenzi’s vehicle on Danforth Road for a moving violation. Upon further investigation, it was found that Gaudenzi’s driving privileges were suspended and there was an active warrant out for his arrest. The warrant was out of North Warren Municipal Court and it was confirmed. He was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters where he was processed and posted full bail of $501.00. He was also issued two motor vehicle summonses for Driving While Suspended and Careless Driving. He was released pending a court appearance in Madison Municipal Court.

On 9/5/17 at 1:59 a.m., Ptl. Julian Morales arrested Victor M. Hoyos, 21 of Madison, NJ. Ptl. Morales was dispatched to Cook Avenue address for an assault that took place. Madison officers locate the victim, who sustained facial injuries. Upon arrival, Madison officers were advised of the description of the actor, who fled the area. While canvassing the area, Cpl. Kevin Boone located Hoyos who fit the description of the suspect. Hoyos was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault, a 3rd degree crime. He was later released pending a court appearance in Morris County Superior Court. The victim was transported to Morristown Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.

On 9/5/17 at 2:16 p.m., Det. Ken Shannon and Ptl. Christopher Burans arrested Joshua S. Kimmell, 37 of Morristown, NJ. Officers stopped Kimmell on Route 24 for equipment violations. Upon speaking with the driver, officers observed obvious signs of drug use. After an investigation, Kimmell was arrested and charged with Possession of marijuana under 50 grams and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; both are disorderly person’s offenses. Kimmell was also issued motor vehicle summonses for Maintenance of Lamps and Possession of CDS in a Motor Vehicle. He was released pending a court appearance in Madison Municipal Court.

On 9/13/17 at 1:47 a.m., Sgt. Sean Plumstead and Ptl. Patrick Strafaci arrested Andrew M. Butler, 30, of Brooklyn, NY. Patrol officers stopped Butler’s vehicle on Woodland Road for speeding. Upon further investigation, Butler was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and charged with Possession of marijuana under 50 grams and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; both are disorderly person’s offenses. He was released pending a court appearance in Madison Municipal Court.

On 9/17/17 at 1:00 a.m., Cpl. Bart Glab arrested Brandon M. McGrath, 18 of Lake Hiawatha, NJ and Sara R. Naylor, 18 of Madison, NJ. Cpl. Glab stopped both individuals for Local Ordinance violations on Madison Avenue. Upon speaking with both defendants, Cpl. Glab detected an odor of burnt marijuana and found both of them in possession of suspected marijuana. Both were arrested on scene and processed at Madison Police headquarters. McGrath was charged with Possession of marijuana under 50 grams and a Local Ordinance violation for being in a borough park after the prescribed hours. Naylor was charged with Resisting Arrest, Obstructing the Administration of Law, Possession of Drug paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana under 50 grams, Being Under the Influence of CDS, Failure to Surrender CDS, and Local Ordinance violation for being in a borough park after the prescribed hours. Both were released pending a court appearance.
