Bow Tie Movie Theater To Be Discussed At Tuesday Meeting
The Planning Board and Historic Preservation Commission are meeting to discussing the future of the former movie theater.

MADISON, NJ — The Planning Board and Historic Preservation Commission are meeting on Tuesday to discussing the future of the former Bow Time Cinemas in Madison.
In a preview of plans made available ahead of the meeting, two theaters would remain, as well as two retail spaces and a lobby for a residential building, which would presumably be built atop the current structure (you can view the floor plan and renderings here). No more information was immediately available.
The meeting, held on Dec. 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the Hartley Dodge Memorial Building, is open to all. No formal action will be taken.

Locals were surprised when Bow Tie Cinemas unexpectedly shuttered its doors earlier this year.
The Madison movie theater, last owned and operated by Bow Tie Cinemas, had shown movies for over 90 years. Bow Tie purchased the theater in 2013, and upgraded the projectors to digital and and added stadium seating.

The four-screen theater was sold in February to Parsippany-based Saxum Real Estate, and the company said it would continue to show movies, as Patch reported at the time. It was the borough's only theater.
