Concert Series Continues with The Imposters Band
The Imposters Band delighted adults while balloon artist Lollipop T. Clown enthralled kids at the METC's Downtown Concert Series
Friday's thunderstorms and rain clouds moved out of Madison just in time for The Imposters Band to set up for their outdoor concert as part of the Museum of Early Trades & Crafts' (METC) free Downtown Concert Series.
April Lyzak, the METC's Museum Coordinator, said, "We spent the whole day thinking the concert would have to be indoors, and at five o'clock we looked outside, and the sun was out!"
Area residents turned out with their kids, their pets and their lawn chairs to enjoy the musical stylings of The Imposters Band, which sang rock classics from the 1960s through the 1990s, including "You're Going To Lose That Girl," "Allison," "Sultans of Swing," "Hooked on a Feeling," and "American Girl."

Other amenities provided for the METC Downtown Concert Series included popcorn from The Provident Bank; sandwiches, snacks and drinks from Whole Foods; stands by other concert sponsors, Blue Ridge Mountain Sport, Madison Honda and The Star Ledger; and balloon animals by balloon artist Lollipop T. Clown.
After being indoors from the rain most of the day, the children who attended the event with their parents spent most of the concert running around the lawn in front of the band, doing cartwheels and playing with their new balloon toys.

Fran MacMaster of Madison could only watch as her children and their friends released some pent-up energy on the green while she held their balloon toys: two swords, a cat, and a Theodore costume (as in Alvin and the Chipmunks).
Brothers Tyler, 14, Brendan, 10, and Tobin Todd, 7, came to the show from their home in Randolph because, as Tobin said, "My mom wanted to see the band," but ended up in makeshift fights with their balloon swords.
Matthew, Carrie and Kate Madara of Madison dined on pizza from Rocco's Pizza and a bottle of chianti as they watched the concert. Matthew said, "I saw someone else do this a month ago and decided the next time we came here we'd do the same thing.
"The whole plan was to get a pizza, a bottle of wine and get here by 6. But," Matthew said with a smile, "with work, it was more like 7." The tardy arrival did not diminish his enjoyment of the concert, nor of the sustenance he brought with him.
The Imposters Band is made up of local musicians. Brian Fruehling and Roy Root, who play drums and lead guitar respectively, live in Madison. They also provide the vocals for the band. Guitarist Bob McAndrew lives in Morris Township and bassist Mark Harris hails from Livingston.
The next installment of the Downtown Concert Series will take place on Friday, July 23 at 6 pm and will feature CHIA's Dance Party, a Colombian dance band. The concert will take place on the lawn of the Museum of Early Trades & Crafts at 9 Main Street. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held inside the museum.
