Hey guys,
Let me open by saying that I was at the Concert Hall on Monday night for CMS, as I promised to be, and literally no one else was. Literally. Except for Rachel, Rachel, and Emily, and a couple who showed up at 7:15. But otherwise, literally no one else. In fact, so few people were there that they just went ahead and refused to even have the concert. How does that make you feel? Guilty? Like the scum of the Earth? Yeah, well good, because- What’s that? The concert was postponed because of three thousand feet of snow? And no one showed up because my industrious colleagues did such an excellent job of publicizing that information, in only twelve hours? Oh. Well then good job, everyone!
In that case, I can go ahead and talk about the Camerata concert last Thursday, and postpone my discussion of CMS until the next paragraph. Ha. Ha ha. Anyways, the Camerata was a bunch of fun. I think my favorite part was getting to see my director and occasional boss Ellis Hilton onstage, which is a drastic role reversal for me. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever seen Jason Bishop direct from behind before. Now I can finally understand everyone else’s perspective! I guess the really important part, other than seeing so many of my awesome, talented friends singing all at once, was that holy cow was that music good. It was even more impressive when you consider that a) that stuff is just plain hard, and b) they threw it all together as a group in less than a week. There were some real moments that night. They were beautiful. And the “Whimsy” section of that concert was just fun. Lots of fun. They sounded like crickets at one point. Ha ha! How cool is that?! Awesome, that’s how cool. So the next time they sing (which will be in September, if I understand correctly), make sure to show up. It was more than worth the price. Which is good, because the price was $0. So if they weren’t worth more, it would be embarrassing. But they were. So no worries.

As for CMS, be ye not distressed! The Concert Hall has seen fit, in its infinite wisdom, to reschedule the Pianos in Paris concert for tonight, February 6, at 8 p.m. The program hasn’t changed, and I really shouldn’t have to remind you what it is, but I will anyways. By copying and pasting my description from last week right here: “CMS is back… with Pianos in Paris, a program which contains all the piano you could ask for, including two pieces intended to be played by two people on the same instrument at once. How does that work, you ask? Well I guess you’ll just have to find out. I’m looking forward to it” (Metteer par. 4). And that wasn’t even plagiarism. So there’ll be stuff from Debussy, Bizet, and Gershwin (but mostly Debussy). This is your second chance, so if Monday didn’t work, all obstacles have been removed. And if Thursday doesn’t work, that’s really unfortunate, but life just isn’t fair sometimes, you know? If it were, I’d be drowning in money and bacon, Sean Connery would still be making movies, and the Broncos would have at least made an effort to look like they knew how to play football on Sunday. I feel for you, though. See you next week.
