Beaman's Goal Lifts Madison Girls Past Chatham

Second-half tally hands Cougars first loss of the season.

A game of evenly matched teams, with strong offensive and defensive plays the norm, came down to one shot from 's Emily Beaman to notch the win over Chatham, 1-0, at Ted Monica Stadium Monday afternoon.

IN SHORT
The coaches and players knew this would be a struggle, and both teams came out strong on offense, defense and in goal to keep it deadlocked for nearly 65 minutes before Beaman's shot got by Chatham's Morgan Maltby for the victory.

"It's two good sides. Chatham has a lot of ability. One-nil is a reflection of how tight the game was. I'm just grateful we got it! I think we managed to win a little bit more possession. Catherine Zimmerman had a couple of chances that their keeper made saves on. Emily Beaman made the goal and it was quite pleasing as she is coming back after an ACL injury and this was her first goal this season."— Madison head coach Kevin Lynott
