
New Jersey singer Roseanna Vitro has served as a official United States Jazz Ambassador and recorded eleven critically acclaimed CDs, including her latest — The Music of Randy Newman — which was nominated as “Best Jazz Vocal Album” at the 54th GRAMMY Awards. She was inducted into the Arkansas Jazz Hall of Fame in a class that included legends Bob Dorough and John Stubblefield in 1998 and received a “Jazz Leadership Award” from the New Jersey Jazz Soociety in 2009. Noted author and jazz critic Gary Giddons calls Vitro, “A resolute jazz singer with sure pitch and diverse repertoire.”
Roseanna is Chair of the Vocal Studies Department at New Jersey City University and is a faculty member of the Wells Fargo “Jazz for Teens” program at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center.
She will perform and talk about her work as a music educator at the New Jersey Jazz Society’s April Jazz Social this Sunday at Shanghai Jazz in Madison from 3-5:30 pm. The event is open to the public with NJJS members admitted free. A $10 guest admission can be applied to a new Jazz Society one-year membership. Drinks and delicious Asian fusion cuisine available. $10 food/beverage minimum.
