FDU's 'Madison Avenue Field Projects'- What it Means for Madison

Fairleigh Dickinson University, Florham Campus in Madison, NJ has a lot of upcoming projects. The main one to note is the major athletic field projects that are underway. While a large project like this will take some time, the trees have been removed and the dirt has begun to be plowed so the students are starting to get excited. But what exactly is taking place? In phase one, a multipurpose field, running track, areas for field events, and a parking lot are all being built. Phase one also includes a monument sign, new perimeter fencing, and a digital scoreboard. This is projected to be completed by the end of January.

Phase two will focus on the baseball field which has been unplayable all throughout last year as well as fall ball this year, forcing the FDU Devils baseball team to commute to each practice and game. The old baseball field will be converted to a synthetic field, with a new warning track, perimeter fencing, scoreboard, and grandstand. While there is no official completion date, the University hopes to have the Devils baseball team take the field in late March, just in time for their 2020 season.

So what do all of these updates to FDU’s athletic fields really mean to the community of Madison?

Having these updated fields will allow the community to explore the beautiful university that is to some, a mere 5 minute walk from their home. With a new track and field, while practices aren’t being conducted you can bring your children to run on the track, run yourself, or admire the new facilities. Have nothing to do on a Saturday afternoon? Come bring your children and allow them to experience their first ever college baseball game in a grandstand.

While all of these changes will have a positive impact on FDU’s community, it will also have a positive one on Madison’s as well.
