Taylor Stars as Volleyball Improves to 5-1

The girls volleyball team got back on the winning track on Thursday, stopping Parsippany High in two games.

Madison was in control the whole way, never trailing to a clearly lesser talented Red Hawks team. Led by great games by senior JoEllen Kentner and sophomore Margy Taylor, the Dodgers jumped out in front in game on, scoring six unanswered points before fashioning a 25-18 win. In game two Madison was again on fire, quickly dismantling the Red Hawks on their way to their fifth win of the season.

DODGER OF THE GAME

Margy Taylor—The sophomore was a force throughout in the Madison win, recording six kills and four digs, to go along with five service points and two aces.  

OTHER KEY PERFORMANCES

JoEllen Kentner (Madison)—The team leader spent the entire game on the court, recording five digs, three kills, two service points and one block; Kate Taylor (Madison)—Three aces, two kills, two digs and one block; Luisa Garcia (Parsippany)—Four kills, six assists and four digs in the loss.

COACH'S TAKE

"Parsippany’s got some height, and I knew they were playing fairly good ball, so I was a little concerned coming in. But I thought we played pretty well today. We have a tournament at Morris Knolls Saturday, so we’re getting ready for that. This was a nice launching pad into that."–Madison head coach Steve Fenton
