Kathy Dailey is Ready to Serve Madison Neighbors

I have a genuine passion for my chosen hometown of Madison, its people, and its future success. I would be honored to serve as one of the six decision makers who determine the future of our community, ensure its alignment with your values, and support the vision that you have for the futures of your family, your business, and yourself.

As a parent of two children who have benefited from growing up in this wonderful borough, I understand and appreciate the importance of living in a community that is safe and affordable while still offering the amenities young families require. Those are my highest priorities, and this is what you can expect from me when I represent you on the Madison Borough Council.

Working for 28 years within the utilities industry, I have developed business skills in operations management, policy development and government affairs. As Senior Manager of Legal Operations at a law firm, I provide legal and regulatory support for mergers and acquisitions and other major financial transactions. My understanding of contracts and negotiations and my other professional and managerial experience is exactly the sort of background that Madison needs in its Borough Council members.

I am concerned about Madison’s continued reliance on undefined and variable surpluses to fund such a large percentage of its budget. As a councilwoman for Madison, I would work to decrease the borough’s dependence on uncertain funding sources. And, as I’ve mentioned throughout this campaign, the Borough of Madison should not collect or keep money from taxpayers and ratepayers if we don’t have a defined purpose for it. Madison needs to establish a target level for its surplus accounts, and any surplus in excess of the target should be returned to the taxpayers in short order, not allowed to accumulate in borough coffers indefinitely.

I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and a Master of Science degree from Stevens Institute of Technology. I am presently serving my second year of a three-year term on the Madison Utility Advisory Committee. I have been an active leader in local scouting programs, provide pro bono paralegal assistance to victims of domestic violence, and volunteer regularly with St. Vincent Martyr Church. I also serve on the Board of Directors for Franciscans in Action, a charity that raises funds to support a mission parish and two schools in Haiti. My husband, Michael, and I have been proud Madison homeowners for more than two decades, and our two teenage children, who have always called Madison home, attend Madison High School and Morris County School of Technology.

Mayoral Candidate Rob Catalanello, Councilman Pat Rowe and I have spent the last several months outlining a positive, serious plan for Madison’s future. We respectfully ask for your vote on November 5, 2019, so that we can be your voice at the council table.
