Local Golf Tournament to Benefit MHS Sports

Organizers seeking more sponsors for next month's event.

More sponsors are still being sought for the Dodger Classic Golf Tournament.

The event—the First Annual All-Sport Fundraiser— is scheduled to be held Aug. 29 at the .

Money raised from the Classic will "help assure the quality of MHS sports programs and the value they bring our kids and our community," according to the event's sponsor brochure.

Participants will receive 18 holes of golf on the club's historic nine-hole course; breakfast, lunch and dinner; a package of favors, and a souvenir program.

The four-person scramble with two shotgun starts will also feature contests such as closest to the hole; long drive, and Madison Borough Putting Championship.

Tournament Director Kevin Casey said the event's goal is to reach $15,000 in sponsorships, with funds to flow to the high school's athletic department, which has been hit with recent budget cuts.

A committee composed of individuals from the Madison Athletic Foundation, MHS athletic department, and tournament will review proposals and make decisions on how best to distribute the golf proceeds.
