Madison Man Accused Of Lying About Armed Robbery: Police
Police say the man accused of making up the armed robbery is wanted in Costa Rica on child rape charges.

MADISON, NJ — A Madison man who previously told police he was a victim of an armed robbery is now accused of making the event up, Madison police said in a statement on Thursday.
Eugenio Munoz Castillo, 50, told police he was robbed at gunpoint by two masked men the night of July 23. Now, police are saying that robbery never happened, and that Castillo is a wanted in Costa Rica on child rape charges. (You can read Patch's original report here.)
Using various security camera footage, Madison police say they were able to determine the alleged robbery never happened. Police say they don't yet have a motive.

Munoz Castillo was arrested and charged with filing a false police report. While being processed at the Madison Police Headquarters, police determined he is a fugitive from justice out of Costa Rica, and is wanted in that country on charges that he allegedly raped a minor.
He is currently being held at the Morris County Correctional Facility with an upcoming court date.

"The incident put responding officers from Madison, surrounding towns and our citizens in jeopardy while causing public alarm," Madison Police Chief Darren Dachisen said. "Video footage from our video community partner, the Nautilus Diner, was instrumental in assisting our detectives and has been utilized on multiple investigations with great success."
