Madison's Romano Selected for USA Field Hockey Program

Quinnipiac University field hockey freshman Christa Romano of Madison has been selected to train with USA Field Hockey's New England High Performance Teams.

USA Field Hockey's High Performance Training Centers identify and train potential National Team athletes. Romano was named to the Junior Team, for those athletes born in 1991 or later.

Romano turned in a solid freshman campaign on defense with the Bobcats, appearing in all 18 games as the Hamden, Conn. college posted eight wins, its most since the 2006 season. Romano also started eight games for the Bobcats.

Romano, the daughter of LuAnn and Pat Romano, was a three-year letterwinner in field hockey and track for the . She was named First Team All-State Group 2 and Second Team All-State in 2009.
