Man Charged In November Jewelry, Cash Theft In Madison
The man was caught after trying to break into a different apartment, police said.

MADISON, NJ— Madison Police arrested a man they say stole $4,000 in cash and jewelry in November after finding him attempting to burglarize a Cook Ave Apartment last week.
Police responded to a call just after noon on Dec. 23, after a man found a stranger inside his apartment trying to steal cash.
When police arrived they found that Jose D. Gonzalez-Gutierrez, 22, of Madison, had broken in through a front window.

During the investigation, police linked Gonzalez-Gutierrez to a Nov. 23 burglary, where $4,000 in cash and jewelry was stolen out of a Elmer Street home.
Gonzalez-Gutierrez two counts of 3rd degree burglary, one count of 3rd degree theft, one count of 4th degree theft, criminal mischief and possession of burglary tools.

He was taken to the Morris County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.
