Man Tried Hide Drugs By Eating Them: Madison Police
Jonathan J. Downing was charged with hindering and tampering, police said.
MADISON, NJ - A 22-year-old Ewing man tried to conceal drugs be ingesting them after a motor vehicle stop on March 11, according to the Madison Police Department.
According to authorities, Patrolman Kyle McDermott stopped a motor vehicle on Danforth Road for speeding. Upon speaking to the driver, McDermott observed obvious signs of drug use inside of the vehicle and it was determined that Jonathan J. Downing, a passenger in the vehicle, was in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, police said.
While on scene, Downing attempted to swallow the marijuana to conceal it from officers, police said. He was afforded medical attention and he was placed under arrest.

He was charged with 4th degree tampering with evidence, hindering apprehension, obstructing the administration of law, possession of marijuana under 50 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia, under the influence of marijuana, police said.
He was later released pending a court appearance in Morris County Superior Court.
