Sidewalk Art Gallery in Madison Just Needs Artists

A new public arts program will display the work of 10 to 15 visual artists throughout downtown Madison in an outdoor "sidewalk art gallery," and organizers are ready to hear from artists interested in being considered.

The art banner program and exhibition is a collaborative partnership between the Downtown Development Commission and Madison Arts & Culture Alliance.

The 30-inch by 40-inch pieces will be installed on May Day, and taken down and sold at a fundraising auction in October after the Madison Farmers' Market wraps up.

Acrylic paintings and photography are being considered. Organizers canprovide information about weather-proofing the works.

Submissions that are reflective of the Rose City in some way have the best bet of being included, according to the prospectus:

Artists are invited to create original fine artwork on canvas material impervious to weather. Each banner will be an original, one-of-a-kind work of art. Preference will be given to works reflecting the history, culture, environment, natural beauty, architecture, or community life of Madison, New Jersey and the surrounding area.
