Raneri Family Hosts Annual Send-Off for Gettysburg College Students

Get-together is annual tradition for Madison family.

Before they set foot on campus this fall, a group of area students matriculating at Gettysburg College just got their first taste of university life at a gathering of alums and other students at the home of a Madison family.

The Rose City send-off has become a tradition in itself, and was hosted Aug. 4 by Peter and Patty Raneri of Madison at their home. The Raneris are members of the Parent’s Advisory Board for Gettysburg College, and have hosted the event for several years.

Each summer, the Pennsylvania school hosts regional send-offs to welcome incoming students and to connect past, present, and future Gettysburgians.

Hosted by alumni, current parents, and parents of alumni, the send-offs are a way for new Gettysburg students and their families to meet each other as well as alumni, current students and parents, and staff.

"This longstanding Gettysburg tradition is a memorable start to the Gettysburg experience and a great opportunity to get your questions answered," Peter said.

The Raneris volunteer for send-offs, college nights at local high schools as well as College Day at the County College of Morris.
